Flaky Pastry Crust
from “The Settlement Cookbook”
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup shortening
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ice water
- Have all materials ice-cold. Sift flour and salt. Blend the shortening into the flour, add enough ice water, very slowly, to hold dough together.
- Chill half an hour or more.
- Roll ¼ to ⅛-inch thick and line pie plate.
