DiBella’s Sub Oil
When I was in college, Dibella’s was a tiny sub shop near campus. They made the best subs ever! The shop later grew, opened more locations, and eventually sold the name and recipe to Wegman’s. This is a close approximation to their “secret” recipe.

- ½ cup soybean oil (or neutral vegetable oil)
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup red wine vinegar
- 1 – 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (or dried minced garlic)
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- (optional) ½ – 1 teaspoon lectin (soy or sunflower)
- 1 pinch dried basil
- Whisk all ingredients until emulsified.
- Store in a squeeze bottle; shake before use.
- Drizzle lightly over subs, ideally mixing with mayo for authentic flavor.

Tips
- Using soybean oil (if available), produces a lighter, less greasy feel.
- Lectin (if available) helps emulsify and prevent the oil and vinegar from separating.
