Cheddar Cheese Fondue

- 1 cup beer
- 1 pound cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- milk or cream, as needed
- 1 pound loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- Warm beer to a low simmer, but do not boil.
- Place shredded cheese into a plastic bag and toss with flour until thoroughly coated.
- Slowly added cheese (approximately ⅔ cup at a time) and stir until dissolved. Repeat until all cheese has been added.
- Stir in seasoning and spices.
- Add milk or cream to adjust the consistency as needed.
- Serve with French bread cubes.
